Terre-de-Vallabrix

Terre de Vallabrix( Clay waste )
The research has focused on optimizing the application of 3D technology to non-plastic viscous materials. While materials derived from natural resources have intriguing environmental characteristics, they face numerous practical challenges in application.

For instance, 3D printing is often underutilized due to difficulties in creating objects arising from the consistency of the pastes, which are typically very liquid or unsuitable for extrusion.
To simplify, the research began with a clay paste, sourced from a byproduct of a refinery used in quartz extraction (Vallabirx, south of France).
This clay byproduct contains additives that prevent its reuse in industrial facilities, making it the ideal choice to initiate the investigations.

Numerous tests were conducted, meticulously collecting data and parameters essential for printing. Over 3,000 data points and parameters were gathered, enabling the formulation of a protocol suitable for various viscous and non-Newtonian materials. This protocol allows for the prediction, or at least provides an indication, of potential outcomes, expediting the material formulation process.
