Parametric design
Generative design is an innovative approach to design that utilizes computational algorithms to automatically generate optimal design solutions. Based on intelligent use of computation and artificial intelligence, this process explores a wide range of design possibilities, allowing designers to achieve efficient and effective results. Through defining input parameters and iterative optimization, generative design encourages creativity and experimentation, enabling exploration of innovative and original solutions.
This concept was developed using a topological generative algorithm. Initially, all bike components were designed, and subsequently, the elements constituting the frame were employed as input geometries for creating a frame.
This frame was intended to retain the same mechanical performance while being made, in this case, from a polymer material. In the case of topological optimization, the frame closely resembles the original frame, compared to more autonomous generative models. However, it offers more control over the final result, which, unlike free generation, could lead to bizarre outcomes that might be excessively complex to manufacture.
