Broken Venice
Editorial project
The project proposed a new perspective on the Venetian Lagoon, highlighting some of its unique or lesser-known characteristics.
The lagoon boasts one of the densest biodiversities globally, encompassing both flora and fauna. The concept aimed to engage people with the lagoon, encouraging them to learn about its peculiarities, especially addressing threats such as pollution and erosion. The graphics were characterized by a linear and precise expressiveness, emphasizing the extensive research conducted by the lagoon monitoring laboratories.
The project focused on analyzing and raising awareness about the environmental and ecological issues affecting the Venice Lagoon. Through thorough research, the team of experts highlighted the threats arising from the shallow seabeds, pollution from various agricultural, civil, and industrial sources, as well as intense maritime traffic, fishing, and tourism. Additionally, the project explored the unique morphological features of the lagoon, such as the "tegnùe," and assessed their impact on the lagoon ecosystem, along with the significance of different habitat types like "barene" and "velme," and the plant and animal species inhabiting them. Concurrently, the project examined the farming and fishing of mollusks and fish, emphasizing the importance of promoting sustainable practices to preserve the fragile balance of the lagoon ecosystem.
The ultimate goal was to raise awareness about the importance of protecting the Venice Lagoon and provide practical recommendations for ensuring its conservation for future generations.
